Telemedicine is the field of offering virtual online medical consultations by online video call (or telephone). New Zealand law requires initial consultations to be more than just a telephone call if we want to prescribe something new, so the video component is necessary. It is a rapidly growing area, and Covid-19 has shown the country (and GPs) that we can accomplish most of our jobs online.
Within certain limits, online doctors work very well to provde fast access to reliable medical opinions. NZ needs more access to doctors, and this is one of the solutions. There will always be a place for bricks and mortar GP surgeries and walk-in centres. MedOnline can provide diagnosis, medication prescriptions direct to a pharmacy of your choice, blood tests as well as medical certificates, letters and private referrals.
For us to issue a prescription, we need to see and talk to you first to ensure it is appropriate. We can then send a prescriptions instantly to any pharmacy of your choice in NZ. There are also online delivery pharmacies such as Zoom Pharmacy who can post medications to you (including Rural Delivery addresses) for added convenience/discretion.

If you have seen us before for a medication, and just need a repeat prescription, this is a much easier process, just click here and we will sort it out directly. We will check which pharmacy you want before we send it!
Pricing for our services is here. The basic GP appointment is $65 (inc GST) and that includes sending your prescription to any pharmacy in NZ, as well as arranging any tests, letters or referrals we might discuss.
(You can still see us even if you are not funded for NZ healthcare -- the funding just affects the cost of medication at the pharmacy and lab tests -- which are still pretty reasonable even if you are not funded). If you are a NZ citizen or permanent resident, an Australian citizen or permanent resident who intends to live in NZ for at least 2 years, on a work visa planning to be here for 2 years or more - then yes! There is a longer list of the eligible criteria here - and these qualify you for public services and subsidized prescriptions.
However ANYONE in NZ can register for our service and get a prescription. If you are not eligible for subsidized prescriptions the pharmacy will charge you a little more for the medication, but most drugs are still very affordable. We can register you for your NZ Health ID number if you don't have one or have never seen a doctor in NZ before.
